"Thanks to research over recent decades, Hungarian Art Nouveau architecture, applied arts, and fine arts have been winning ever greater international recognition. This exhibition focuses on an art form that has been less thoroughly explored: Hungarian poster art and graphic design from the turn of the century. Thanks to the rich poster collection of the Hungarian National Gallery and the cooperation of our partners – the National Széchényi Library, the Museum of Applied Arts, and the Budapest History Museum – we can present Hungarian poster art in an international context, and in relation to the object culture of Art Nouveau.
This exhibition is the second one in a series started in 2022, when we began processing the outstanding periods of Hungarian poster art with an exhibition entitled Art Deco Budapest. Posters, Lifestyle, and the City (1925–1938). Our goal is to draw attention to this special genre in which Hungarian artists created exceptional works even by international standards."
