Tote bag with Michelangelo's Seated Male Nude
Delivery to Hungary: Free for all orders above 12 000 HUF.
A sturdy canvas tote with black straps and the same drawing on both sides, a Seated Male Nude by Michelangelo. The young man depicted in this twisted pose is one of those young athletic figures that are framing the central scenes of the Sistine Chapel frescoes. Their role in Michelangelo's fresco cycle is still a mystery for art researchers, but that shouldn't bother us when we are looking for a perfect gift for art lovers, anatomy students or sports fans.

The central paintings of the Sistine ceiling are surrounded on all four sides by ignudi, 20 seated nude youths holding medalions and bundles of oak (rovere = oak) branches - representing the Della Rovere family, the Pope's family. / Whereas Michelangelo had previously used black chalk, the second half of the ceiling figures and detailed studies he preferred red chalk. With this technique heightened with white he could achieve deeper tonal trasitions. It took him only three days to paint the ignudo above and to the left of the Persian Sybil. Michelangelo probably drew this study after one of his apprentices.
