The Hungarian National Gallery is known as the largest public collection documenting and presenting the rise and development of the fine arts in Hungary.
In 2012 the Hungarian National Gallery and the Museum of Fine Arts are merged to form one institution. Permanent exhibitions of the National Gallery are rearranged. In 2018 the collection of the Old Hungarian Arts is prepared to move to the reconstructed building of the Museum of Fine Arts and at the end of the same year an exhibition of highlights from the Collection of Art after 1800 of the Museum of Fine Arts opens at the National Gallery.
